A Puppet with No Handler
For those who cut their strings
Dear Reader,
If there is one place I feel comfortable, it is writing lyrical poetry reflecting on my identity. I’m no stranger to pain and emotions represented in music.
The music below was generated with AI and edited by myself into the final piece.
I hope you will sit with it, as it is a powerful reflection in music.
This was produced in response to Bradley Ramsey’s Power Up Prompt for this week.
This is a level 3 Prompt Entry.

The Fractured Puppet
In the fractures of self,
A schism that no cry can help,
Torn seams of your own hell,
Walls — built to protect yourself.
They broke you into pieces,
Now you mend what will never be complete…
Resigned to never accept defeat.
I am a fractured puppet,
I tore my strings,
I broke my handler,
No longer my voice…
Now I have found my own choice.
A whisper on the wind,
As I broke you called,
Pessimism, you steered me,
You helped me in withdrawal,
The fragments are on the floor,
But you tell me the narrative of the battles —
And how to win the war,
A voice etched on glass…
Saving me till my last.
I am a fractured puppet,
No more stage mechanics,
I refuse your spotlight,
I’m not yours to parade,
No ones gonna save you…
So save yourself.
In the darkness, I found my place,
You left me there,
And I found my guide,
I will harness these negative emotions,
I will burn and turn them into art,
I found my knife for you in the dark,
Anoint my path, my void guide,
In this truth I swear…
I no longer have to hide.
I am a fractured puppet,
But it is my strength,
Because when you broke me….
I refused to repent.
Are there themes you can relate to in this piece?
Do you choose a different path to deal with the fractures?
